Let's Talk: Real Talk

Do you see what I see?⁣

Probably not. ⁣

I see acne scars, texture, and eyebrows that need to be waxed. I see a bump on my nose and a double chin that shows up when I eat too many sugary snacks. ⁣

Here’s the thing though, you probably didn’t even notice any of it until you read that paragraph. We are our own worst critics and the pressure to be perfect on social media is intense. ⁣

What you don’t see is someone who is more herself than she’s ever been. Someone who has confidence and fearlessness that took her 33 years to gain. And I worked hard for it, I earned it. It didn’t just show up overnight. I showed up for myself and now am motivated to show up for you too!

We can be so hard on ourselves on IG. We photoshop photos until we don’t even look like ourselves anymore, we add filters to hide what we don’t want others to see. But here’s the thing, when I see photos of 𝘺𝘰𝘶 all I think is, “Wow, she looks beautiful!” or, “Look how happy she looks.” I don’t see your imperfections or flaws. I don’t see that you are PMSing and having an intense breakout. Or that everyone was late to school again and you’re cleaning dog poop off the carpet for the millionth time this week. I just think you’re beautiful!

So show up for yourself. Post the photos that you love and post ones that you don’t love too. We have a responsibility and opportunity to be real and authentic and make waves on this platform.⁣

How are you going to show up this week?
